Jamie Tomkins:
Through travelling to early MTB events with my Dad in the late ’80s, I was destined for the Sprogg category at the age of 6. By 11 I was desperate to race downhill, but my parents insisted only when I could wheelie the length of the street and bunny hop a log, 2 weeks set back. Moving up through the ranks I became team MBUKs youngest rider at 12, then became National Youth Downhill Champion in ‘98, ‘99 and 2000.
From that point I took my studies really seriuosly but still took part in some 4x and BMX races. I ended up doing a Masters Degree in Vehicle Design at the Royal College of Art in London, which led me onto working for Volkswagen AG and Audi in Berlin. I’m back in the UK for ‘08.
